Planning commission fails to elect chairman after tie vote

The Patrick County Planning Commission opened its Jan. 20, 2026 meeting with nominations for chairman but did not elect one after the ballots resulted in an exact tie.
Vance Agee moved to elect Ed Pool and Sarah Wray nominated incumbent Kurt Bozenmayer. After nominations were closed, the commission held recorded votes. The minutes state: "The vote resulted in a tie. No Chairman was elected." The tally recorded Yes votes for Ed Pool from Vance Agee, Ed Pool and Michael Tatum and Yes votes for Kurt Bozenmayer from Sarah Wray, Janet Rorrer and Kurt Bozenmayer.
Commission Clerk Teresa G. McCormick oversaw the ballot process and announced the result. The meeting proceeded to consider the vice-chair election and other agenda items without a chairman selected; the commission did not schedule an immediate runoff or special election during the Jan. 20 meeting.
