Mountain Lakes applies for $20,300 Highlands Council stormwater grant to update MS4 and planning documents

Borough Manager Mitchell Stern reported that the Borough submitted an application to the Highlands Council for a $20,300 Stormwater Management grant. The scope described in the manager’s memo includes updates to the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, the Stormwater Control Ordinance, the MS4 Infrastructure Map and Watershed Improvement Plan documents to support NJDEP Tier A MS4 permit compliance.
Stern’s memo states the request reflects the total project scope less an anticipated $10,000 reimbursement from a 2023 Municipal Stormwater Assistance Grant that was previously approved. If funded, the work is intended to strengthen the Borough’s stormwater management program and improve protection of lakes and downstream water resources.
The application was presented as part of the manager’s written report and recorded in the June 22 meeting materials; council took no immediate separate vote on the grant application during the meeting.
