Designers and builder highlight therapeutic design and construction scale on new Cabarrus center

Design and construction partners emphasized the center's non‑institutional design and the scale of work required to complete the project. Sherry McRae Reyes of Human Experience said the design focused on safety, therapeutic value and a welcoming environment rather than a hospital feel.
"This is different, this is special," Sherry Reyes said, pointing to design elements intended to make the space feel restorative. Chris Malinowski, vice president and regional leader for Messer Construction, said construction peaked at more than 100 craft professionals on site and stressed patient safety and construction quality. "Construction of the 60,000 square foot facility peaked at more than 100 craft professionals on‑site," Malinowski said.
Speakers invited attendees to tour interior features the architects and builders highlighted, including child‑focused spaces and nooks described during the ceremony.
