District updates progress on referendum construction; proposed change orders for skylights ($53,000) and possible Erickson tile work (~$430,000)

District administrators told the board the referendum construction program is progressing and remains largely on schedule despite some weather-related limits to outdoor roofing work.
"They're all on target to be at substantial completion by the end of August," an administrator reported about roofing work, and noted contingency planning around materials supply and long-lead HVAC controls. The administrator also described a recommended change order for 13 skylights at Eisenhower: the contractor and architect reviewed the proposal and considered $53,000 fair value to remove and seal the old skylights to prevent future leaks.
At Erickson, ceiling-tile asbestos abatement is under way. The district said two pods have been cleared by the testing company and that abatement work was expected to be complete by July 31 with turnover to the district the first week of August. Staff cautioned that additional ceiling-tile removal and specialty work in the media center and stage would not fit the current schedule and could require a summer 2027 change order estimated at about $430,000.
Board members asked about prevailing wages, staging of materials, parking-lot debris and whether the playground area would be retained; staff said they are coordinating daily with the general contractor and the architect and will post change-order items for board consideration at the next meeting.
