Resident raises allegations about county investigation and possible gifts to commissioners

At the first public‑comment period, Monroe Township resident Mike Davidson told commissioners he had previously provided information about an investigation he called the "Boatman investigation" and said the county’s handling raised credibility concerns. Davidson said he had reviewed meeting tapes and was compelled to return after remarks by a commissioner at the previous meeting. "Simply saying it's been turned over does not relieve the board of responsibility," Davidson said, asking whether the Michigan Attorney General had opened an investigation and whether county officials had been interviewed.

Davidson went on to assert — and prefaced it as an allegation — that "two commissioners accepted Detroit Lion payoff tickets from a county vendor" that, according to Ticketmaster pricing he cited, sold for around $900 each. He also alleged a commissioner sought preferential treatment through a South County magistrate office on overweight citations. Board members and staff did not provide confirmation during public comment; commissioners later asked Mr. Davidson to present additional documentation and noted that formal investigative or legal responses would be handled through the appropriate offices. The allegations were not resolved during the meeting and commissioners asked staff only to note the statements for follow up with county counsel as appropriate.
