Chet Parsons, Executive Director of the Central Virginia Transportation Authority, presented an update on CVTA activities, funding sources and regional projects. Parsons said the authority has identified and committed funding to dozens of projects across nine localities since 2020 and that total regional commitments exceed $862 million with combined distributions and local allocations surpassing $1.6 billion.
Parsons noted Hanover County has received about $42 million in regional allocations so far and highlighted a $4 million regional award for the US‑33 Mountain Road widening project to add lanes and improve the Route 33 corridor. "Hanover County has received just over 42,000,000 in just that regional 35% funding commitment," he stated. Board members thanked Parsons and asked clarifying questions about the wholesale gas tax and local distributions.
