Kate said the match had been calculated differently in prior rounds and recommended the commission account for the 30% requirement when planning future grant applications to avoid the same barrier.
Members pressed for clearer guidance on what costs would qualify as match and whether previously documented resources (buildings, archival research) could be counted. Kate noted some buildings and resources previously listed would reduce cash needs but that the local match remained a substantial factor. The group agreed to revisit the nomination package and to bring clearer match documentation to the next submission.
The commission did not take a formal vote on the nomination during this meeting; members directed staff and the consultant to follow up with the Certified Local Government (CLG) contact and provide a revised packet for the commission to review.
