Jan. 30 retreat set; Friends of SWVA facilitator and VTC manager to lead sessions

James Houchins told the council the board retreat is scheduled for January 30 and that Catherine Fox from Friends of Southwest Virginia will be the main facilitator. Kalen Hunter, the DMO manager for the Blue Ridge Highland District, will attend and give an update on the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
James said the retreat's number one goal is to increase visitation within Virginia and that members should review the distributed Foothills of the Blue Ridge plan in advance. He noted that planned facilitators and presenters will help the council refine strategic priorities and budget planning going into 2026.
