Public‑works staff Todd Gross and Dana Horn told the council a state inspection of the rubble site is complete and the written report is expected in a few months. They reported street‑sweeper parts were quoted at between $5,000 and $10,000, Well No. 2 is on the list to be pulled this spring, and a fire hydrant by Water Street is frozen and needs replacing; other hydrants are scheduled for installation this spring.
The council approved several contracts tied to those needs. A motion by Randy Squier, seconded by Glen Batterman, hired Grosz Sand & Gravel to haul ash from the rubble site to the Mitchell Landfill and return with red chips from Spencer Quarries at a rate of $140 per hour. The council also approved Popham’s bid to street‑sweep the entire town for $5,856 and approved Roland Luke to install four sewer drops at the fairgrounds for $4,000, with the council asking for an additional quote to add one more drop.
