Road & Bridge Director Mike Brown provided several operational updates and requests. Commissioners approved participation in the Kansas Department of Transportation's Kansas Local Bridge Improvement Program, Agreement No. 1201-25, Project No. 67 C-5387-01, to replace the North Island Bridge. The commission also approved right‑of‑way requisition estimated values for Bridge No. 45-6.2 to the Good Family ($2,086.55) and the Smith Family Trust ($745.09), to be paid from the Road Sales Tax fund.
Separately, the commission authorized an increase in landfill tire disposal fees to $300 per ton (bulk) and an increase of $1 for individual tires, effective March 1, 2026, to reflect rising disposal costs (minutes cite Champlin Tire increasing rates). Brown also noted a KDOT auction on March 24, 2026 and said bidding for the 70th and 4 Bridges overlay would be scheduled at the next meeting.
