The town clerk noted that the council's amended noise ordinance (effective Nov. 30, 2025) requires businesses holding an entertainment license to demonstrate by sound testing—conducted with the amplifying equipment and levels to be used—that outdoor amplification will not exceed the permitted decibel limits at the property line.
The council granted the license tonight but required the Greenwich Club to submit sound‑testing evidence for the town clerk’s review prior to operating amplified outdoor sound. The clerk and solicitor confirmed the process is designed to ensure consistent application of the updated noise rules and to avoid selective enforcement. Councilors also approved a batch of other renewals as granted‑but‑not‑issued pending local compliance checks, and continued a larger group of incomplete or state‑pending applications to Nov. 24.
