Resident urges Hanover schools to step up monitoring of student vaping

During the public comment segment of the July 14 meeting, Kristen Holtsey of the Cold Harbor District addressed the board and urged stronger monitoring of student vaping and illegal drug use, saying she fears the issue will worsen over time if not monitored.
Holtsey said, "I believe the Hanover County School Board need to monitor student vaping and illegal drug use because I do fear that it will become a bigger issue as time goes on. Stay strong in putting the welfare and education of the children first." The chair thanked her for her comments. The board did not take immediate action during the meeting; public comment concluded and the board proceeded to action items and budget votes.
