Commission authorizes Eventide Nexlog purchase to replace county 911 recorder

Jeff Ridgeway, communications director, recommended replacing the county’s NICE-brand 911 voice-recording system after operational problems and a prior water-damage replacement. Ridgeway said Eventide’s Nexlog 740 DX series was a durable option used by several Kansas agencies and that installation, training and project management are estimated at $59,309.47 funded from Fund 16.
Ridgeway said the replacement would not only restore analog and VoIP voice recording but would add screen-recording capability for dispatch computers to help troubleshoot technical issues. He also discussed potential long-term support options and said his recommendation was to pursue software update subscriptions rather than high-cost customer-service add-ons after the first-year warranty period.
A commissioner moved to approve PO 7985 to purchase the Eventide Nexlog system from Nelson Systems; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Ridgeway said the system fit within the budget for the capital project and would include an initial warranty year.
