Commissioners approve $8.6M in water projects including $6.47M Bonaire elevated tank

During the Nov. 5 meeting, the Houston County Board of Commissioners approved a package of water infrastructure projects and a related contract change order.
The Board awarded Plumbline Construction LLC a $49,737.30 contract for a remodel of the Dunbar Water Treatment Facility (to be paid from Water Capital Funds). It approved the low bid from John R. Walker Inc., $2,076,756.89, for Water System Improvements to serve Cemex (ARPA-funded). For Bonaire, the Board approved a best-value bid of $6,470,000 from Landmark Structures to construct a 1.5-million-gallon composite elevated water tank; Commissioners noted the county switched from a pedestal to a composite design and that ARPA and Capital Funds will fund the project.
The Board also approved Change Order #1 on the Waterline Extension to serve Scott Road, deducting $18,840.25 and lowering the contract from $595,426.05 to $576,585.80 to reflect actual quantities installed. All motions were approved unanimously. Chairman Perdue said the county was "excited at being able to afford a larger tank than initially thought possible" using designated ARPA funds.
