The board unanimously approved a Memorandum of Agreement with the Middle Georgia Regional Commission to review and update the county’s Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan, which must be refreshed every five years to remain compliant. Commissioner Gottwals said the agreement will not exceed $22,000 and the cost will be reimbursed by Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds.
Approving the MOA keeps Houston County in compliance with federal hazard mitigation requirements and sets the county up to continue qualifying for mitigation grant funding tied to an updated plan.
