Houston County hires Bureau Veritas for interim building inspection services

The Houston County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 5 approved a professional services agreement with Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. to provide interim building inspection services while the county's inspectors are on medical leave. Commissioner Talton presented the item and the motion passed unanimously.
Chief Building Inspector Tim Andrews told the Board that working with the company "has been smooth" and that Bureau Veritas personnel have been helpful in initial engagements. Chairman Perdue noted the company has received positive reviews from other Central Georgia counties and said the agreement is intended to meet inspection needs on a temporary basis.
County staff said the arrangement is a stopgap while county inspectors recover; the Board did not specify a contract end date in the meeting minutes. Staff will proceed with administrative contracting steps and monitor performance during the interim period.
