ACCG honors Rep. Shaw Blackmon for work on HB 581

The Houston County Board of Commissioners presented the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) Legislative Service Award to Georgia State Representative Shaw Blackmon during its Oct. 15 meeting in Warner Robins. Dante Handel, ACCG’s Associate Director of Government Affairs, made the presentation and praised Blackmon’s role supporting HB 581 in the most recent legislative session.
“Thank you for this recognition — it has been a privilege to work with local elected officials in doing what’s best for the citizens of Houston County and the State,” Representative Shaw Blackmon said while accepting the award and thanked Pastor Stephen Byrd and family members who attended. Chairman Perdue commended Blackmon’s leadership and his work on HB 581.
The board’s recognition was presented during the meeting’s opening items; no formal vote beyond the award presentation was required. The award remarks preceded public business including approvals of contracts and personnel actions. The presentation highlighted local-state coordination on legislation the county said affected its operations.
