Board recognizes student athletes and leaders, including multiple state championships

The Greene County School Board opened its recognitions segment by honoring several students for athletic and leadership achievements. Chair (speaker 7) highlighted Samantha Nucci of William Monroe High School for winning two VHSL Class 3 state championships and setting new state records in the 1,600‑ and 3,200‑meter events.
"Tonight, we are proud to recognize an extraordinary student athlete...capturing 2 state championships and setting 2 new state records in the 1,600 meter and 3,200 meter events," the chair said. The board also recognized student leader Mooken (a state debate champion and volunteer representative at UVA Health) and Lily Powers for leadership and plans to attend James Madison University.
Board members and the superintendent praised the students and encouraged continued engagement; no board action was required for these recognitions.
