Vian Board approves encumbrances, fundraisers and $3,000 class transfer

The Vian Board of Education reviewed and approved payroll, encumbrances and warrants across district funds at its Sept. 9, 2024 meeting. The board approved encumbrance numbers 188 through 212, recording a net increase of $73,221.29 in the 2024–25 General Fund and encumbrance numbers 10 through 11 with a net increase of $14,837.00 in the 2024–25 Building Fund.
Board members also approved multiple PTO fundraisers (blankets, T‑shirts, flags, clear bags, a Fall Festival, face painting at home football games and a restaurant night in the fall, and a spring Fun Run) intended to fund PTO activities, and Leadership's planned ad sales in September to cover competition, meeting food, a field trip and equipment. The board recorded an activity account transfer of $3,000 from the Junior Class to the Senior Class. The motion to approve these items was moved by Thornton, seconded by Cotner, and passed with unanimous recorded votes from Thornton, Cotner, Simon, Ford and Sanford.
