The planning commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit for a telecommunications tower on Bluntsbridge Road after staff outlined 13 recommended conditions including limits on height, color, equipment screening and removal if the use ceases. Phil Stettler, the applicant representative for Stone Towers, said Verizon would be the lead carrier and that the tower will be designed so the fencing and equipment are not visible from the road.
Neighbors questioned the number of carriers and long-term additions to the tower and said the structure would affect property values and the visual character of the area. "I would like to have it just for 4 units as it is right now," Maurice Redding said, expressing concern about future additions atop the tower. The applicant said the maximum number of carriers that could be structurally accommodated is four and that photo simulations show limited visibility in leafed seasons. The commission voted to recommend approval with conditions.
