Hanover County staff and Parks & Recreation officials presented a plan to add pickleball courts at Taylor Complex, and commissioners recommended approval after hearing both supportive and opposing testimony. "We learned that there was substantial demand for additional courts here in the county," Aaron Reed Miller said, describing regional court counts and local interest.
Opponents raised water-supply and restroom access concerns. Carol White said nearby wells and water availability should be carefully evaluated before adding facilities that might require permanent restrooms. Staff responded that there are no formal plans or funding for a permanent restroom at this time and that portable restrooms and signage or nearby office building restrooms would be used while feasibility is studied. The commission approved the conditional use permit with the recommended conditions.
