The Commissioners Court approved an order to advertise Request for Proposals (RFP 25-04) to purchase police pursuit vehicles, with specifications allowing either Chevrolet Tahoes or Dodge Durangos, model years 2024 or 2025 depending on delivery availability.
County purchasing staff said the RFP language allows the court to determine the final quantity ordered based on need and to procure vehicles from multiple vendors if appropriate. "We have Tahoes and Durangos. Both either 2024 or 2025, whichever can be delivered the quickest," a county staff member said during the discussion. The court also noted equipment specifications will be included but that department requests had asked to remove vehicle cages from the specification.
The court approved the order to advertise and move forward with the RFP process so municipalities and constable offices receiving vehicles can be coordinated with county allocations and any federal or congressional assistance being pursued.
Next steps: purchasing will advertise RFP 25-04 and return recommended awards for future court action.
