Guadalupe County canvasses Nov. 5 election results; elections administrator reports large voter increase

The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court formally canvassed the Nov. 5, 2024 general election on Nov. 19 after Elections Administrator Lisa Hayes presented turnout and registration figures.

Hayes told the court the county has grown substantially since 2016, reporting an increase of "37,692 people," with total registered voters at about 131,627 and 85,606 ballots cast in the recent election. "So that's a huge increase," Hayes said, and she noted the large turnout created logistical challenges in precincts that used the same physical space as in prior cycles.

Commissioners thanked Hayes and elections staff for conducting what one commissioner called a "monumental task," noting changes to equipment and software between the primary and general elections. The court approved the canvass of the general election and separately approved certification of the City of Marion special election results that were conducted and tabulated by the county.

Next steps: canvasses were approved on the record; no further action was requested at the meeting.
