The Cass County Commission voted to authorize Resolution 26-14 on Feb. 18, instructing staff to issue a request for qualifications for a construction manager to provide advisory services for repairs to the Old Historic Courthouse.
The chair said the county signed a lifetime easement with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) years ago, and noted that any exterior improvements must meet historical preservation standards. "So that's why we're gonna have a construction manager that oversees that project to make sure we're following what they request," the chair said. The motion was seconded and passed by a 3to-0 vote.
The RFQ will solicit firms experienced in historic-preservation oversight and construction management; the commission did not name candidate firms or set a procurement timetable in the meeting record. The action directs the county to proceed with the procurement process so that any contractor work will be reviewed for compliance with MDNR requirements.
