County Attorney Dan Krug told the Russell County Commission that he will retire effective July 31, 2026, after serving as County Attorney for thirty years. The retirement notice was submitted during the April 20 meeting and acknowledged by the board.
Krug also requested use of the county 4-H Building by the Republican Precinct Committee sometime in June. The commission agreed and asked Krug to coordinate the date with Connie Schinkus, Administrator Assistant/Human Resources. No formal motion about staffing or successor selection was made at this meeting.
