Mayor Eduardo Martinez read the proclamation, describing Findlay as a neighborhood matriarch who has helped generations of students cross streets safely and served the community through decades of volunteer work. Neighbors and community leaders praised Maxine’s dedication and invited residents to community events honoring her during the week.
Maxine Findlay thanked the council and community and said, "I love the children… I get up in the morning, and I look forward to going to my job to watch my children cross them." The Point Richmond Neighborhood Council announced plans for a celebration during the first full week back to school.
The council’s recognition is ceremonial; no policy action was associated with the proclamation.
