Roosevelt County commissioners approve tax cancellations, hires and claims on April 1

Roosevelt County Commissioners met April 1 and approved routine administrative business including two tax cancellation resolutions, a reappointment to the Health Board and several claims.
Commissioner Doug Marottek moved to approve Resolution 2025-17 (Cancellation of Personal Taxes Delinquent Five Years or More) and Resolution 2025-18 (Cancellation of Property Taxes Delinquent Five Years or More); Commissioner Gordon Oelkers seconded both motions and they passed. The board also approved a support letter for the Fort Peck Irrigation Project Pumping Plants Upgrade and accepted claims dated March 20, 2025, totaling $199,956.06. "A motion was made by Commissioner Marottek to approve Resolution 2025-17, seconded by Commissioner Oelkers. Passed," the minutes record.
The board approved the reappointment of Julie Bach to the county Health Board (motion by Marottek, seconded by Oelkers). Commissioners additionally approved personnel actions including an annual raise for Ty Smith and hires for Mary Drake (Librarian) and Jarrett Smidt (Deputy).
The meeting opened with a public comment item in which Bill Juve asked whether the county and city would coordinate cleanup of burned apartments; Commissioner Robert Toavs said the city planned to handle that work with its equipment. The meeting was adjourned at 11:18 a.m.
