The Water Department's February report, read at the March 3 meeting, said the springs produced an average of 495,000 gallons per day in February while the town used an average of 219,000 gallons per day. The report also said the springs produced 13.4 million gallons in January while the town used 7 million and compared that to February 2025 production of 12.4 million gallons with town use of 7.1 million.
The report noted operational improvements—security cameras at the springs are now accessible remotely and water tanks are in good condition—but also warned of higher treatment-chemical prices and doubled delivery fees over recent years. The department recorded six service-line freeze-ups so far this winter at High Street, Andover Street, Pleasant Street, West Hill Road, Rock Drive and Route 100 South; staff continue weekly flushing on Deeplawn Court Extension and Thompson Avenue to help prevent further freeze-ups.
