Town staff to present Clark Drive flood‑recovery alternatives with multimillion‑dollar cost estimates

Municipal Manager Penny Wu told the Select Board that consultants from Hoyle‑Tanner have developed six alternatives for Clark Drive flood recovery and will present those options at the July meeting.
Wu summarized four alternatives with preliminary cost estimates: rebuild the bridge (about $3.7 million); extend Plumley Avenue and remove the bridge (about $800,000); decommission Clark Drive and purchase the affected properties (about $1.0 million); rebuild the bridge with a temporary bridge option (about $3.6 million). Two additional alternatives are still being developed with estimated costs of roughly $2.8 million and $2.0 million. She cautioned that FEMA funding may cap at a particular alternative and that additional state support could be available. Board members asked how many landowners are affected (two) and whether property purchases would be feasible; staff said funding and acquisition details will be worked out in coordination with FEMA and state agencies.
No final decision was made; staff will include a full presentation and more detail in the July packet to allow the board and public to compare trade-offs among cost, road continuity, and longer‑term community impact.
