Board debates new facility-use fees; agreement to table pending details

The packet proposed raising auditorium fees from $65 to $200 for weekday daytime use; board members debated the increase and Justin Hyjek suggested $100, a number the board adopted in a motion. Concerns were raised by Bruce Schmidt about charging schools for tournaments, Garden Club uses, and waivers for non-profits. Penny Wu recommended tabling the issue until Nick Miele (sports director) could attend and provide usage and lighting/cost details; following discussion George Tucker rescinded his prior motion and the board agreed to table the item to next month.
The board emphasized keeping costs reasonable for town-affiliated events while covering costs for commercial and concession uses and asked staff to explore an online sign-up and clearer nonprofit waiver language before the next meeting.
