Economic development staff briefed the board on upcoming community events and tourism initiatives and county staff reviewed the budget timeline for 2025–2026. Events announced included Community Spring Fest on April 5, a 'love' sign unveiling on April 22, Boots in Bloom April 26, Music on the Lawn May 2, a tourism FAM tour and an Up the Creek kayak event on May 10 (two sessions), plus a June 10 food distribution in partnership with local organizations.
County staff said the administrator’s recommended budget would be presented April 10 and that the public hearing on the proposed tax rate would also be scheduled for that meeting; staff plans to post the proposed budget April 11 and tentatively scheduled a formal public hearing for May 1 with adoption soon after. Staff also noted the county’s broadband project had received positive external recognition.
