County administrator lists strategic plan and agritourism policy among EDA priorities

County Administrator Derek Stamey told the Economic Development Authority on Jan. 20, 2026 that the county will be working on an Economic Development Strategic Plan and an agritourism policy as part of its near-term agenda. The announcement was part of a five-item update Stamey provided to the Authority; the meeting record shows no policy decisions were made at this session.
The item was presented as part of a broader staff update that also listed a grocery store prospect, a Spruce Berry Farm grant application update, a shell-building and fiber update, and a Cobbs Creek water agreement. Director Glenn Mozingo asked about officer selection for the Authority; Stamey said officer elections will occur at the next meeting. The Authority took no vote on the strategic plan or agritourism policy at this meeting.
