Auditor and Recorder shift duties after deputy retirement; board approves split schedule and pay

County Auditor Lisa Plecker and County Recorder Lisa Crane reported to the board that, after the retirement of Deputy Auditor Laurie Burgason, the two offices have agreed to a shared staffing approach using existing deputies. The plan assigns Deputy Recorder Taylor Thornberry to work three days per week in the recorder's office and two days per week in the auditor's office; Deputy Auditor Laura Thomas will continue five days per week in the auditor's office. The department heads proposed wage rates of $21.09 per hour for Taylor Thornberry and $25.86 per hour for Laura Thomas to reflect the adjusted responsibilities.

On motion by Meek, seconded by House, the board approved the change in job duties effective Oct. 7, 2024, and the proposed pay rates (Ayes:3). The minutes record the personnel action as a cost-conscious staffing realignment following a retirement; no layoffs or new hires were authorized in the motion. The board did not include additional job descriptions or long-term staffing plans in the recorded motion.
