Planning staff presented the results of an unsafe-structure and nuisance survey at the April 7 meeting. Karen Rothe said the survey “got many replies, most of which were not in favor of having these kinds of rules.” Board members noted a high proportion of responses from farmers and questioned whether the survey language should be more specific about what types of structures were under consideration.
Given recent tax increases and the lack of clear public support, the board agreed that the timing was not right to pursue new regulated requirements and took no formal action on the matter. The discussion closed without directing staff to draft ordinances or rule changes.
