Chair Tara Ratcha read an email from Representative Burgess Owens’ office asking the committee to nominate a Draper resident for the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Congressional Recognition ceremony on Sept. 30. The committee noted eligibility criteria: nominees must have Hispanic heritage and either live or work in Utah’s 4th Congressional District — described during the meeting as largely the portion of Draper west of I‑15.
Members discussed potential nominees who work with immigrant communities, including local connector Sylvia, and asked staff to confirm residency or workplace location against district boundaries before submitting a nomination. Chair Ratcha said staff would follow up and verify whether candidates meet the district requirement.
