Municipal Manager Penny Wu provided updates on the town’s Local Options Tax and potential wastewater treatment facility relocation. Wu said the 1% fund currently holds about $447,000 and is on track toward projections of $1,000,000. She reported that the Ludlow Economic Development Corporation voted to deed 20 acres behind LaValley’s and Jeld-Wen to the town for $1.00, identifying that property as a possible location for relocating the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Wu said a FEMA funding estimate for relocation is pending but could be in the range of $5.0 million to $6.9 million. On Planning Commission appointments, she said there was public interest; Matthew Bellantoni submitted a letter of interest and introduced himself, noting he has been a Ludlow homeowner since 2009 and knows the zoning regulations. Separately, Tree Committee member Phil Carter told the board two Allegheny Serviceberry trees were offered at no cost and proposed planting a Liberty Tree with an American Legion-funded plaque to mark the U.S. 250th and Ludlow’s 265th anniversaries; the board expressed consensus to proceed.
