Ludlow honors dispatcher and officers for role in Jan. 1 shooting response

Chief Warfle praised department personnel for their “bravery and quick thinking” and presented a Distinguished Service Award to Dispatcher David Petit, who Chief Warfle said coordinated off-duty officers who were at the scene within 10 minutes.
The chief also presented awards to Officers Zach Paul, Marissa Foote and George Hauser for their assistance while off-duty. Chief Warfle contrasted the local response time with outside agencies, noting that State Police took about an hour to respond and Springfield units took roughly 20 minutes. The board and attendees expressed appreciation to the named personnel for their service.
