Board approves appropriations for schools, animal control and emergency services

On a motion by Supervisor Eurika Tyree and seconded by Supervisor Paul Stimpson, the Board approved a $5,000 appropriation to Cumberland County Public Schools tied to a grant. The Board then approved funding for a third animal control officer position — including salary and benefits — in the amount of $41,727 on a motion by Supervisor Tyree, seconded by Supervisor John Newman. Separately, the Board approved a $700 appropriation to the Emergency Services Department (moved by Supervisor Robert Saunders Jr., seconded by Supervisor Tyree) and a $1,000 appropriation to the Emergency Services Department from the 2026 REPP allocation for the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department (moved by Supervisor Paul Stimpson, seconded by Supervisor Bryan Hamlet). Each motion carried unanimously.
