Cumberland County adopts updated Emergency Operations and Continuity of Operations Plan

The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Feb. 10 to adopt an updated Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and Continuity of Operations Plan that county officials said fulfills the four-year review requirement under state law.
The resolution cites Va. Code § 44-146.19 and notes the county’s plan was last revised on Feb. 9, 2021. On adoption the Board resolved the plan will take effect immediately. The motion to adopt was made by Supervisor Robert Saunders Jr., seconded by Supervisor Eurika Tyree, and carried without opposition.
County Administrator Derek Stamey presented the update as part of the county’s routine emergency-management cycle. The resolution text included language directing compliance with state statute and stated the revised plan had been submitted to the Board for consideration.
