Smith described a 57% reduction in funding from ACOG and said grants currently cover roughly $58,000; he said the organization is pursuing additional grant funding and working with ACOG and local partners to avoid service interruptions. Commissioners pressed for clarification on the nature of the ACOG reduction and discussed reserve and stopgap arrangements that would keep meals flowing through February while longer‑term options are explored.
Smith said the foundation has a new grant writer and is coordinating with county staff and regional partners. No formal county appropriation was approved at the meeting; commissioners asked staff to follow up with more detailed documentation about the funding changes and potential county options.
