Residents press council over dangling junction boxes, possible pole damage

Several residents told the council they were concerned about apparent poor workmanship on cable installs and the safety of equipment left hanging on utility poles.
“You will see these big things hanging that they cut loose, and they're just hanging in the air now,” resident Scott Clamp told the council while pointing to multiple locations between Wasatch and Midwest. Clamp said poles near his property were showing structural damage and urged the city to insist on better contractor inspection and cleanup.
The clerk said public works would inspect the locations and the city would reach out to the company to request remediation. A speaker with fiber‑optics experience later warned that installers using PVC and poor insulation will cause future failures and urged an inspector be dispatched to verify installations.
No enforcement action was taken at the meeting; staff committed to inspection and follow‑up with the utility contractor if defects were found.
