Rodger Scully led discussion of a possible community ice rink, saying West Hill’s size, parking and proximity to existing winter amenities made it attractive. “I like the West Hill location, because of the good size, there is sledding, dog park, plenty of parking,” Scully said. Committee members compared pros and cons of West Hill, Dorsey and a village location: Dorsey is more central but lacks parking and has irrigation lines to consider; West Hill has better water access but is outside the village.
Participants also discussed equipment and staffing. Rodger suggested reaching out to Jackson Gore for boards and a Zamboni; Penny and Erin were noted to be pursuing equipment leads. Scott and Frank expressed support for starting small and expanding later. The committee agreed to perform site visits before the next meeting and Nick Miele proposed meeting at 4 p.m. to begin a West Hill site visit prior to the next scheduled committee meeting.
