Council vacates 0.37-acre right of way; parcel to be quitclaimed to UTA

The Draper City Council approved Ordinance 16-08 to vacate a portion of city right-of-way near 900 East/12200 South (approximately 0.37 acres). Assistant City Manager Kelly Schalberg (speaker 7) explained the parcel was originally dedicated to the city as a land grant, that the city no longer needs the right of way and that utilities and easements will remain in place.
Schalberg said part of the parcel will be quitclaimed back to UTA and that the city will obtain an appraisal before deciding on sale terms. Resident Dan Inouye (speaker 13), who lives nearby, asked that the city give all interested parties the opportunity to bid if the property is sold, to maximize return and fairness.
Council moved, seconded, and approved the ordinance unanimously (4–0). Staff will return with appraisal results and proposed disposal terms for council consideration.
