The Ludlow Recreation Committee confirmed a slate of spring and summer events and reported fundraising progress for the Fourth of July celebration.
Parks & Recreation Director Nick Miele said the Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be on April 4 with guessing jars at 9:30 a.m. and the hunt starting at 10 a.m. He announced Vermont’s Annual Green Up Day on May 2 and said he purchased 127 grabbers from Harbor Freight at $2.99 apiece to supply volunteers. On volunteer food, Miele said Squeels on Wheels will make peach cobbler and he is seeking additional donations from Shaw’s to lower BBQ costs for volunteers.
Miele said Opening Day for Little League is May 9; he will coordinate a parade with local fire departments and check with Penny to see if she will throw the first pitch. He also said Cavendish may combine its teams with Ludlow this season, and Diamond Realty has offered team sponsorship; Nick will follow up with sponsorship costs.
For summer programming, Miele said Chris Kleeman will again line up music for an eight-concert series. For the Fourth of July, the Ludlow Rotary Club pledged $5,000 to support fireworks, and Nick said he received a special Rotary logo to use alongside Okemo’s 70th anniversary logo on shirts.
The committee did not vote on event budgets at this meeting; staff will pursue vendor confirmations, parade logistics and sponsorship details.
