Draper Council adopts FY 2024–25 budget and certified tax rate

Finance Director John Bich reviewed key dates and the mechanics of the certified tax rate, telling the council the rate “sets the rate based on property values to get exactly what we had from the year before.” He noted the bond portion of the rate at 0.00051 and a total certified tax rate presented as 0.001022.
Council members said they aimed to take as little as possible from taxpayers while maintaining essential operations. The mayor highlighted rising costs across capital and operations and said the increase was focused on maintaining public safety and core services.
The motion to adopt the budget and certified tax rate was moved and seconded and then approved unanimously (4–0). Staff said budget documents and the certified rate figures will be posted as part of the adopted record and that the city will continue outreach following truth-in-taxation hearings.
