"The turnout for this election for our voters was 64%. We have 25,000 registered voters, and about 16,500 participated," Montoya said when commissioners asked how turnout compared with prior years. She added that the office processed 607 same‑day registrations total — 307 during the early voting period and 300 on election day — and described those transactions as time consuming for staff and poll workers.
Montoya thanked poll workers and staff by name for their work under the heavier load, citing Ana Martinez, Lehi Struck and new employees Zephaniah Lovato. A commissioner responded with praise for the clerk's team, underscoring the extra administrative burden created by high same‑day registration numbers.
