Road and Bridge seeks bids for blade; Black Mountain Road chip seal set for June 22

Road and Bridge Supervisor Shane Rankin briefed the Board on maintenance and equipment needs at the June 2 meeting. Rankin said most spring blading has been completed and asked the commissioners to approve advertising a bid for a new blade and trade‑in of the oldest blade. “The County is allowed to use $100,000 a year out of the State County Road Funds toward the purchase of new equipment,” Rankin said.
Rankin also reported that final signage for Black Mountain Road has been approved and the speed limit signs will follow a speed study scheduled in July. He said the chip seal for Black Mountain Road is scheduled for June 22, 2026. Commissioners did not formally vote on a purchase at this meeting but granted Rankin permission to proceed with the bid advertisement.
