The board recognized Clarence Bates, the transfer station attendant, as the county employee of the month for February 2026 in recognition of his years of service and daily public-facing work. "Clarence is being recognized for his many years of dedicated service... he represents the very best of public service," the county administrator said.
Residents used the public-comment period to announce community events — April Morris promoted a Valentine's dinner and dance fundraiser and local pickup/concessions events — and to highlight community volunteerism. The clerk also noted Rodney Parsons’ donation of 60 food boxes to a local pantry and contributions to volunteer fire departments.
County Administrator Mr. Staley addressed the board and said this would be his last organizational/business meeting. "This will be my last organizational meeting with the board... It's been an absolute honor and pleasure," he said, thanking staff, citizens and the board.
Next steps: staff will post recognition materials and community-event details as appropriate and note the administrator’s departure in future personnel records.
