Surry County Board adopts FY 2025–26 budget totaling roughly $62 million

The revised transmittal was dated May 8 and was emailed to board members prior to the meeting.
Board members asked for confirmation that recent revenue and expense adjustments — including a lower personal-property projection referenced in the materials — were reflected in the revised document. Miss Rollins said the May 8 transmittal incorporates those adjustments and that final budget corrections typically are completed before the July 1 adoption deadline. She also noted a specific procedural change in the resolution: a clause allowing up to $25,000 of additional state revenue for constitutional officers to be added administratively without returning to the board.
A board member moved to approve resolution 2025-06 as presented; the motion received a second and the board adopted the resolution by voice vote. The chair announced the motion carried. The board set no further amendments to the adopted budget in the meeting; staff will issue the corrected transmittal and finalize the record prior to July 1.
