VDOT staff updated the board on maintenance and planned paving for Surry County, reporting that 245 work orders for the quarter were completed and outlining recent and upcoming projects including pothole patching, ditch clearing, shoulder repairs, tree cleanup and sign maintenance.
"We received 65 customer service center work requests and closed and completed all 65 in that quarter," VDOT presenter Carroll said, noting that VDOT generated and completed 180 additional work orders. Carroll reviewed targeted resurfacing and Cape Seal surface treatments for Road 10 West and town streets (Bank Street, School Street, Church Street, Oak Street, Salisbury Road and Beechton) and said interior streets in Clermont are slated for treatment this summer.
Board members asked for before‑and‑after photos of select maintenance work that can be included in staff dashboards. Carroll said the Route 40 bridge project is complete pending final DEQ stabilization permits and that snow‑related pothole work will continue as weather permits.
